The Art of Word Fasting: Today's Word is
'Can't'
Just like we can choose foods that enhance our bodies, we can choose
our words more carefully to create the reality we want. A new
columnist on GNN-i will join us every Friday to take us on a Word
Fasting program. Today's word -- chosen from our menu -- is CAN'T.
Welcome Jack Barakitis to the first Good News Network Friday Word
Fast!
WORD FASTING is a practice in becoming the observer of every word we
say and questioning their value and accuracy in describing our
experiences and intentions. Once we start focusing on our words, we
soon realize that our choice of words shapes our experiences and is
the very seed that creates them. In this weekly column each Friday,
words that no longer serve us will be honored and discarded, new
words will be added to further forge our awareness and purpose in
creating the life we choose.
Several years ago I realized that my use of self-defeating words
everyday was a major contributor to my own unhappiness and failure.
I wanted to change my life and out of this desire was born the idea
to create "A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S. to Inspire, Enhance and Heal". It is a
simple practice of reframing the definitions of self-defeating
phrases by using acronyms that literally shift the energy created by
the word.
I created over 250 A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S., and started to introduce them
to friends and family. Of all the self-development tools I have
tried over the years, A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S. were most effective at
bringing change. Afterward, when I spoke the word, I would be
reminded of my new definition. A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S. inspired me to
change my life and shift my viewpoints into a new way of
understanding my reality and projecting intentions.
This weeks word fast reframes the word, C.A.N.T.
Choosing Against Natures Truth
When we utilize the word can't in our vocabulary we are accepting
the belief that we are powerless to our experiences. The energy of
the word can't embodies I have no choice, and I am stuck with the
way my life is.
Often I would ask for fulfillment in relationships and yet I would
say "I can't stand myself."
Often I would ask for a prosperous lifestyle and I would say "I
can't afford this."
Often I would say I am open minded to new experiences and I would
say "I can't believe this."
Again and again I would contradict my intentions and purpose by
carelessly utilizing the word can't in my day to day living.
The A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. for C.A.N.T. is, Choosing Against Natures Truth.
It reminds me that I as long as I choose to use this word I continue
to choose against my nature and my personal truth. I will continue
to forfeit my divine right of choice and resort to learned behaviors
of my experiences.
I have now fasted from the word can't in my vocabulary and replaced
it with either I choose (or) I choose not. I invite you to do the
same and report back here how it turned out using the COMMENTS
below.
