Why Supplementation Is Necessary
If we all lived off of organic raw foods grown in uncontaminated soil, drank
pure water and breathed fresh air, there would be little need for vitamin
supplementation. But our environment and foods are far from pure. We live in a
world full of pollution, pesticides, genetically modified or highly refined
foods, artificial colours and sweeteners. Good, healthy food choices are hard to
come by. As a result, in January 2002, the Journal of the American Medical
Association encouraged all adults to take a daily multivitamin. They concluded
that the average American diet is basically sufficient to prevent vitamin
deficiency, but insufficient vitamin intake is likely the cause of many chronic
health issues and concerns.
